The Udmurt people is a small ethnic group, living in the middle of Russia. They belong to the Finno-Ugric nations and have their own language and social habits and their own way of life. They are very kind and hospitable people.
The Udmurts are very intensely connected to nature, in all aspects of their life their natural environment plays an important role. Nature also has a religious meaning for them. They do not believe in Christianity, but have pagan rituals. Close to almost every settlement you will find a special cluster of birches, that is considered as a holy place.
